Kidnapped for a gun

A six-year old girl was kidnapped because a family member had not returned an illegal handgun to some thugs. The National Police have now arrested five of the six kidnappers. According to the child's mother, some men came to her house in the Juan Guzman sector of Manoguayabo on Friday and asked for her husband and the pistol that they had given him to take care of. Rosario de la Cruz Diaz told the Police that after they were not able to find either her husband or the weapon, they decided to take her daughter "as a guarantee that the pistol would be returned", and warning her that without the weapon, they would not return the little girl. Working with the Police and the Criminal Intelligence Division, the authorities were able to locate the weapon and contact the criminals who fell into a trap and were arrested. The Police were accompanied by members of the Justice Department during each stage of the preparation for the arrests.
