On Friday night, Radhames Liz and ten hits allowed the Estrellas Orientales to push the Tigres del Licey deeper into the cellar with a 6-2 win at the Quisqueya Stadium in Santo Domingo. The loss led to the firing of manager Dave Clark. Curiously, the Tigres immediately hired Brian Harper, the manager that the Estrellas had fired just the day before. In La Romana, the league-leading Toros del Este received the visit of the Aguilas Cibaenas. Bartolo Colon, the former big-leaguer, took the mound for the Aguilas, and Julio Borbon brought his good bat (two singles and a double). Between the two, they dealt a 5-1 defeat of the Toros and gave the Aguilas yet another win, as they try and reach .500 for the season. In San Francisco de Macoris, the Leones del Escogido continued to roar as they defeated the Gigantes by a score of 3-1, behind the excellent pitching of Yuneski Maya. The Gigantes joined the Tigres in the cellar.

On Saturday, the Estrellas Orientales and the Gigantes met in San Pedro de Macoris. In the eleventh inning the lights went out with the score tied at 8-8. The Gigantes came back from a 0-7 deficit in the very first inning after the Estrellas sent 12 met to bat and five hits, to bases on balls and a hit batsman later they were up 7-0. The Gigantes got a bases-loaded homerun from Wilson Betemit in the third inning, and in the fifth inning they scored three more runs with five straight hits. Meanwhile, in the Estadio Cibao, the Aguilas Cibaenas were trying to get back to .500 for the season against the Leones del Escogido. They took a 3-0 lead in the very first inning but could not hold off the hitting of powerful Jose Guzman, who single-handedly took care of the Aguilas with two home runs and six RBIs, and the Leones won 8-4, and climbed into first place. In Santo Domingo, Timonel Perez drove in two runs and Brian Harper had a successful debut as the new manager of the Tigres del Licey as they defeated the Toros del Este 5-3 in the Estadio Quisqueya.

On Sunday, the Aguilas Cibaenas visited the Tigres del Licey in the Quisqueya Stadium of Santo Domingo. Some 35 minutes after the umpire called "Play Ball!" the Licey broadcasting team were forced to report: "Aguilas 6, Licey coming to bat". The 12-1 shellacking administered by the Aguilas was the second in a row by the Santiago team, which had defeated Licey 17-2 during the week. Backed by a 17-hit attack, Lorenzo Barcelo pitched seven innings of three-hit baseball to garner his third win of the season. In the meantime, the Estrellas Orientales managed to leave the Leones del Escogido alone in the field as they scored two runs in the ninth to eke out a 6-5 victory and move into first place, a half a game ahead of Escogido. In San Francisco de Macoris, the Gigantes del Cibao defeated the Toros del Este by that same, 6-5, score, thanks mainly to two homeruns by Brad Nelson who scored two runs and drove in five on the night. Esteban Yan was the winning pitcher.
