One of the nice things about baseball is that even if there are no games to be reported, there is always something to write about. Today's news is that Edwin Encarnacion will make his season debut with the Aguilas Cibaenas this evening. The stellar major league shortstop will join the Aguilas in La Romana for a game against the Toros del Este. The Aguilas also announced the arrival of right-handed pitcher Dan Reichert and the departure of second baseman Daniel Murphy, who had to return so that the Mets could check out his physical condition. Perhaps the biggest news is that the Chicago Cubs sensational rookie shortstop, Starlin Castro, will be playing for the Leones del Escogido against the Gigantes del Cibao in San Francisco de Macoris tonight. The announcement was made by Moises Alou, the Escogido general manager. Castro, who made a dazzling debut with the Cubs, has been working out under the supervision of the team's management at their facility in Boca Chica. Statements from the Chicago team's spokesman indicate that the presence of the Dominican Republic on the team roster is vital to their success. Currently, the Cubs have Aramis Ramirez (3 base), Alfonso Soriano (2 base), Carlos Marmol (P) and Starlin Castro (SS).
