The Presidency said that government officials have been informed that the Controller's Office will not authorize payments for contracts that violate the National Procurement Law. He said the decision was made in response to the recommendations made by the Anti-Corruption Participative Initiative (IPAC) to eliminate administrative corruption. The announcement was made by Presidency Minister Cesar Pina Toribio at a three-hour Expanded Ministers Council held at the Presidential Palace yesterday. He added that the government would meet with the ministers every three month to follow up on the implementation of the measure. Pina Toribio said that President Fernandez emphasized that the measure seeks to increase the levels of transparency in the public sector, as reported in El Dia.
