The Senate has voted for most of the judges of the Chamber of Accounts to continue in their posts. Licelot Marte de Barrios will continue to preside the organization that is in charge of monitoring the accountability of government departments. Others are Pablo del Rosario, vice president, Pedro Ortiz, secretary, and members Juan Herida Castilla and Alfredo Cruz. The latter is the only member who is new to the organization. As per the 2010 Constitution, the elected officers will remain in their posts for six years. The board of directors of the Chamber of Accounts, nevertheless, will be up for election in two years. All the members of the board are known ruling PLD party members, with the exception of Licelot Marte, of the PRSC, a PLD party ally. Of the 32 senators, 29 voted in favor. Abstaining from the vote were Charlie Mariotti, Wilton Guerrero and Felix Nova. Guerrero said he abstained from voting because the elected members would just do "more of the same mess they have done so far," as reported in El Caribe.
