President Leonel Fernandez has signed the controversial and much discussed "Law of Contracts, Assets, Public Works, and Concessions" into law. At the same time he revealed that he would be asking his Congress to make some major changes to the law in order to conform to DR-CAFTA guidelines. These changes would be, for the most part, those suggested by the United States Department of Commerce. By signing the law, the President effectively eliminated the "bridge decree" that he promulgated to satisfy international pressures.
