Dominicans in New York City were questioned as to their take on the Presidential decrees that limited liquor sales throughout the country. According to Hoy reporters Diego Pesquera and Fernando Quiroz, most Dominicans in the Big Apple applaud the measures, and they are basing their opinions on the news they are getting from the country. According to reports reaching New York from relatives in Santo Domingo and other parts of the DR, crime has fallen off since the decrees were issued. Many people said that they were feeling more inclined to send money to family and friends and to visit themselves since the good news started arriving from "back home." The reporters interviewed people from all walks of life, including New York assemblyman Adriano Espaillat, a laundry worker, a snow-cone vendor and a cook as they prepared the story.
