Almost all drug users got started when they were kids between the ages of 9 and 13, according to a study prepared by the Juvenile Circle for the Prevention of Drug Use. The group was assisted by the Social and Market Studies Group (ESOMERSA). According to the figures, 44% of those who admitted to drug use started before they were 14 years old. Even scarier, but true to data from the United States and other developed nations, 84% were introduced to drugs by their friends. Cocaine, ecstasy and crack are the drugs of choice. Nearly half the people interviewed said that they were students, but 34% had dropped out of high school. More than a third of the people lived with just their mothers, and 28% said they lived with both parents. Over three-quarters of the children interviewed reported parental abuses, generally beatings. More than half of the study subjects admitted drinking alcohol and 43% smoked cigarettes. Nearly 40% admitted to having sex in exchange for money. A total of 276 young people were interviewed for the study.
