The National Energy Commission (CNE) reports that it is preparing a ruling for measuring net power generation. The meter would be able to measure the power received from the distributors as well as power that is self-generated by users through renewable sources and other non-conventional power sources. Users generating additional power will be able to inject the surplus energy back into the power grid and receive rebates in addition to other incentives set out in Law 57-07 on renewable energy. CNE president Enrique Ramirez said this would allow citizens to compensate for the high cost of power generation. This would be the first time bi-directional meters are installed. The aim is to promote power efficiency among users, as reported in Listin Diario.
