70 artists are booked for free performances on five stages along the Malecon for the Santo Domingo Festival, organized by the City of Santo Domingo. There will be merengue, bachata, rock, pop, reggaetton, grassroots merengue, and techno-typical music, among other styles. The event is sponsored by Presidente and Brugal beer. It has the support of the Ministry of Culture and is deemed one of the activities under the banner of Santo Domingo, 2010 American Capital of Culture.
The acts booked for the show will include Fernando Villalona, Joseito Mateo, Sergio Vargas, Eddy Herrera, El Jeffrey, Kinito Mendez, Pochy Familia, Pena Suazo y la Banda Gorda, Ramon Orlando, Los Potros, Diomedes y el grupo Mio, Krisspy, El Prodigio, Tito Swing, Tulile, Miriam Cruz, Rubby Perez, and Fernando Echavarria y la Familia Andres.
15 MCs from the capital city, Santiago, La Vega and Bonao, will keep the crowds in the mood. The event will be televised by Super Canal Caribe (33), Telesistema (11), Mangu Music Television (Aster), Teleuniverso (29), RTD (4), and radio stations.
