Speaking in the Brazilian city of Manaus yesterday, President Leonel Fernandez admitted that the solution to the energy problem and crime are the principal challenges faced by his administration. He said that the electricity issue had been ongoing for many years and that his administrations have worked to find a definitive solution, but they would not give up the challenge, and keep pursuing it intensively. As reported in Diario Libre, Fernandez said that he would put all his efforts towards achieving a solution during the next two years.
He also mentioned crime as another of the challenges faced by the Dominican Republic, saying that it was an issue that his government has tackled with efficiency. The Dominican President said that some things are structural and others that for lack of time have not yielded the expected results. President Fernandez then traveled on to Miami, Florida, and is scheduled to return to the DR later today.
