The PRD Political Commission and the National Executive Committee (CEN) will meet today to complete the membership of the Organizing Commission for the XXIX Extraordinary Convention to select the presidential candidate for 2012, as well as ratifying 6 March as the date for holding the nominating convention. Party secretary general Orlando Jorge Mera announced that new momentum would be given to party unity that precedes the victory that he said that the party would have in the coming elections. He said that the agenda included a report by party president Miguel Vargas Maldonado, who goes on a leave of absence starting today. Also on the agenda is the approval of the recommendations of the Workforce for Unity and Consensus of the Jose Francisco Pena Gomez Congress, which are related to the XXIX Extraordinary National Convention. Jorge Mera added that the missing members of the National Organizing Commission would be named, the approval of the regulations of the process would be delegated to the Political Commission composed of 251 members and the dates would be set for the start of the internal campaign process.
