A total of 18 members of the Specialized Airport Security Corps (CESA) and the National Drug Control Department (DNCD) were detained for investigation on Friday in connection with the seizure of 145 kilos of cocaine from an airplane that had come in from Puerto Rico. During the investigations, agents found US$69,020 in a car belonging to Danilo Ginebra Simone, a member of the Dominican Army. Diario Libre and Listin Diario reported that two Lt. Colonels, a captain and three lieutenants were under investigation. On Saturday, three officers were sent to protective custody at Najayo Prison. Judge Miguelina Juliana Ramirez sent Lt. Colonel Efren Valera Sosa, First Lt. Danilo Alberto Ginebra and Second Lt. Biolennys Lopez, and the two aircraft pilots Kelvin Hensen and Christopher Laurence Schmidt to three months of preventive custody.
