Yellow Monday was a success

As far as raising awareness goes, "Yellow Monday" was a success. All over the Dominican Republic, people held up yellow umbrellas and wore yellow shirts, ties, dresses and ribbons. Hoy, Listin Diario and Diario Libre all carry detailed reports on the success of the campaign that is calling for the government to implement Education Law 66-97 and assign 4% of the nation's GDP to the Ministry of Education. According to Hoy, 190 organizations that belong to the Educacion Digna Coalition took part in demonstrations in Santo Domingo yesterday. Students and staff at all of the nation's universities, schools and members of the opposition political parties showed their backing of the 4% for Education by wearing yellow.
