The new president of the Dominican Republic Industrial Association (AIRD), Ligia Bonetti de Valiente, is calling for a change in the economic model in order to convert the industrial sector into the leading edge of exports, job creation and economic stability. Bonetti called for the removal of the obstacles that take away competitiveness from Dominican industries. She said that the industrialists provide jobs for thousands in the formal sector, pay taxes and generate added value, and above all, seek sustainability. She added that, "sustainability implies permanent growth, permanent improvement and permanent entry into new markets".
