The IX National Census on Population and Housing will continue across the country this week. Unofficially, Diario Libre was reporting that the census taking is being done by telephone, due to the fact that many people have called in saying they have not been counted. The census people reported that they do not have a date to finish the work and that the census takers will continue to make visits to houses.
Last Saturday, the National Statistical Office (ONE) reported that this week they were going to begin the organizational stage and the reception of nearly 3,700 tickets used in the census. The extension of the deadline means a greater use of resources, not only for the census takers in the streets, but also because now they will have to do it by telephone, although the source did not explain if they would increase the personnel to make all the phone calls.
