On Friday night, the Aguilas travelled to Santo Domingo and took on the rather hapless Tigres del Licey. Lefthander John Halama did the honors for the Aguilas, and pitched six good innings of one-run baseball, while the Aguilas racked up a 6-1 lead. Omar Luna got five hits in six trips to the plate. The final score was 10-3. Over in San Francisco de Macoris, the Gigantes del Cibao welcomed the Toros del Este. The Toros won a battle 12-8, with the help of homeruns by Andy Dirks, Esteban German, and Adam Loerwer. Lucas Montero hit a three-run homerun for the Gigantes. In San Pedro de Macoris the league-leading Estrellas Orientales received the Leones del Escogido. A five-run rally in the fifth inning, capped by a three-run homerun by Chris Davis, put the game out of reach for the Estrellas, 10-8. The Leones had tied the game at four runs apiece in the fourth inning before the Estrellas exploded.

The Dominican Winter League took a break over the weekend for the Inter-League All Star game in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. The Puerto Rican All Stars defeated the Dominican All Stars by a score of 4-3. The game was defined in the bottom half of the seventh inning when the Puerto Ricans scored the fourth unearned run of the game. The Dominican defense gave up three errors, and all four PR runs were unearned. Victor Mercedes of the Toros was the best batter of the DR All Stars.
