Former United States President Bill Clinton and Prime Minister of Haiti Jean Max Bellerive will chair today's meeting of the Interim Commission for the Reconstruction of Haiti. The Commission, which is meeting in Santo Domingo, will look at the new projects submitted by the Haitian authorities for approval. The fourth meeting in this series takes place at the Hilton Hotel this afternoon. Diario Libre reports that the Commission is composed of delegates from 26 countries as well as a representative from the Organization of American States (OAS) and the NGOs that are working in Haiti. According to information from the Presidential Palace, Clinton will also meet with President Leonel Fernandez.

During a press conference, Economy, Planning and Development Minister Temistocles Montas said that the meeting would also follow up on the commitments made by the international donor community. Referring to the country's position on aid to Haiti, Montas was categorical in pointing out that it is unchanged, "which means that up until now, the number of projects that have been submitted for the consideration of the international community and that have earned their financial support is insufficient, when you look at the funds that have been committed".

Montas said that he would reiterate the need for the international community to disburse these resources for the reconstruction of Haiti as fast as possible. The member of the administration's economic team reminded reporters that at the first meeting in Port-au-Prince, 29 projects were submitted to the international community by the Haitian authorities. Only eleven of them were fully funded.
