The Interim Haiti Recovery Commission (IHRC) could manage US$480 million in a trust fund administered by the World Bank, writes Listin Diario, reporting on a meeting held in Santo Domingo yesterday. Attending were President Leonel Fernandez, former US President Bill Clinton, former Prime Minister of Jamaica and Caricom special representative Percival J. Patterson and Gabriel Verret, executive director of the interim commission. The funds will be allocated to projects that improve the quality of life in Haiti. The funds will also be used on completing the removal of a remaining 40% of debris from the January 2010 earthquake. This is the fourth meeting of the IHRC.

El Caribe reports that the commission is impotent due to the red tape that has staggered the flow of donations between the World Bank and the donor countries and then Haiti.
