Engineer murdered

Engineer Emilio Hernandez, who worked as a supervisor at the casino at the Jaragua Renaissance Hotel in Santo Domingo, was murdered at 6:40am yesterday at his home in Altos de Las Praderas. He was son of Retired Major General Rafael Emilio Hernandez Beato. He was shot to death with a bullet in the head. Witnesses doubt the motive was theft because the assailant who was on foot fled immediately. Hernandez lived with his wife and children who were getting ready for school at that time, as reported in Listin Diario. The family took him to the nearby Centro Medico Moderno but while he arrived alive, he died shortly after.
