Square Biz is one of my favorite Lady T songs. I love it when she kicks a rap verse along with her singing. Having a rap verse is pretty normal these days in a R&B song. Blonde also did it, I'm sure probaly others, during the 80s. Teena Marie could be from what I remember, the first female R&B singer to actually kick a rap verse herself in a song. If someone knows better please elaborate. Teena and Rick James definitely held it down and did it their way.

Square Biz, Behind The Groove etc are all cool, but my fave Teena song was "I need your lovin". Back in the early 80s roller skating days Teena and Patrice Rushen were probably my fave female singers.
RIP Teena

Her and Rick James was a perfect combination. Fire and desire can still be felt. Quite shocked of her passing. She is a legend in the r&b world.
