Nini Caffaro (Erasmo Alfonso Caffaro Duran) was appointed the new general director of the National Theater, replacing Catana Perez de Cuello.
Decree 709-10 carries the nomination, reported on 23 December. Nini Caffaro is best known for his interpretation of the song, "Por Amor" by Rafael Solano in 1968, when he won that year's first Dominican Popular Song Festival.
Despite being a popular singer, Caffaro made a career as public relations manager for the Cerveceria Nacional Dominicana, manufacturer of Presidente Beer. This year he retired.
