The Ministry of the Environment ordered the closure of the Green Logix bottle recycler. The Ministry said it had received complaints that the company that collects glass bottles to grind them up for export is contaminating the air with the dust from the operations. The report was sent to the Prosecutor for the Defense of the Environment, Andres Chalas, who told El Caribe reporters that articles 175, 183, 165 and 166 establish the penalties for violations of operating permits. The Ministry said that they had rescinded the operating permit granted to Green Logix, after a report in El Caribe highlighted complaints from neighbors that the dust from the processor was entering their homes.
