The Leones del Escogido defeated the Gigantes del Cibao, 6-4 in the Estadio Quisqueya, and there is now a triple tie in first place. With this triumph and the loss by the heretofore undefeated Gigantes, tied with the victory of the Toros over the Estrellas Orientales, there are now three teams with a 2-1 record. The Estrellas are in last place with an 0-3 record.

In the Leones' victory, Ramon Santiago had three hits and Fernando Tatis a two-run double. The Gigantes' Erick Almonte had four hits in the loss. Several personalities and major league ball players were at the game, including Miguel Tejada, Johnny Ventura and Sergio Vargas.

In the Toros' victory over the Estrellas Orientales, they took the lead in the very first inning with two hits, a hit batsman, a walk and a fielder's choice to produce three runs, enough for their pitching corps to work with. They limited the Estrellas Orientales to just 7 hits in the 4-0 win. Fernando Abad worked 6 innings for the Toros.
