The Executive Branch named 2011 Year of Transparency and Institutional Strengthening. The announcement comes at a time when international organizations have compiled information showing corruption, weak institutions and violation of laws by the government itself prevails in the DR. Decree 728-10 highlights that that public administration is subject to act with transparency as established in the 2010 Constitution (Art. 138). The decree calls for holding activities that strengthen democratic institutions as established in the Constitution and laws in 2011.
