The Leones del Escogido ended the Estrellas Orientales' three-game winning streak with a decisive 3-0 shutout in San Pedro de Macoris. Great pitching by Eduard Valdez who worked seven excellent innings and opportune batting by Brad Snider and Bryan Pena, combined with some pitching mistakes and poor fielding, led to the three runs for the Leones.

Over in La Romana, the Toros were giving the Gigantes del Cibao a lesson in power baseball, belting out an 8-1 victory over the fading Gigantes who only have two victories in this round-robin part of the tourney. The Toros now sit atop the standings with a 5-2 record. Raul Valdes pitched five good innings, allowing just one run. Jose Constanza got three hits and drove in three runs in the 13-hit attack.
