Eulogio Santaella of Santaella y Asociados was elected president of the India Chamber of Commerce board during the annual members assembly. Other members are Wilhelm Brouwer (Grupo Viamar), vice president; Fernando Gonzalez Nicolas (Consorcio Comercial del Caribe), treasurer and Angel Delgado Malagon (Abogados Delgado Malagon), secretary. The other members are Campos de Moya (Grupo Vicini), Jabar Singh (The Cliffs), Edmundo Gil (GTC Internacional), William Lockward Naviera BR), Ellis Perez (Scotiabank), Julio Cepeda (JT Motor Company) and Jaime Sued (Sued Farmaceutica).

The ambassador of India to the DR, Deepak Bhojwani is the honorary president.

Former president Jay Najar was recognized for his efforts in founding the chamber and improving relations between India and the Dominican Republic.

The new president, Eulogio Santaella stressed that the chamber would work so that the DR can make the most of the opportunities with India.

The India Chamber of Commerce and the Commonwealth Roundtable in the DR are organizing a Doing Business with India workshop on 19 January. The workshop precedes President Leonel Fernandez's scheduled visit to India in the first week of February.

Trade with India is currently worth US$60 million, mostly Indian imports.

The workshop will take place from 8:30am on Wednesday at the Institute of Foreign Commerce and Business Innovation of the Center for Export and Investment of the DR at Av. 27 de Febrero corner Luperon, Plaza de la Bandera.
