First Lady Margarita Cedeno, interviewed when taking part in the Funglode discussion on the soon-to-be-created Constitutional Court, justified the prospect of President Leonel Fernandez seeking re-election, despite his being banned from do so by the 2010 Constitution. "It is the people who want him to be re-elected," she argued. "Because they understand he is a good governor and should continue to guide the destiny of the nation." She insisted that Fernandez has led the country on a new road to "modernity, with justice, legality and strengthening of institutions in this country that we love and all have to defend."
