Alliance Francaise in Puerto Plata

The Alliance Francaise has approved the opening of a sixth branch in the Dominican Republic in Puerto Plata province, most likely in Sosua. The first branch dates back to 1917. A board made up of business representatives and community leaders is in charge of developing the project. It is chaired by Cecilio Mercedes, general manager of the Casa Marina Beach and Casa Marina Reef in Sosua. The Alliance Francaise is the main French-teaching center in the country, and promoter of French culture with a regular schedule of varied activities all year round. The board members need now to meet to decide on the location of the new center and future activities.
