The overpass on 27 de Febrero Avenue will be closed tonight to allow Ministry of Public Works teams to carry out maintenance work on the expansion joints and the drainage pipes. The Ministry announced that it would close down the avenue from 10pm until 6am tomorrow morning. Besides the expansion joints, the maintenance teams will also repave one of the most heavily travelled roadways in the country.
According to Diario Libre, the elevated portion of the avenue has about 40 expansion joints that require maintenance, and the drainage pipes are plugged with refuse and sediments. The Ministry will also paint the dividing wall between the two sides of the roadway.
