Well I'm scheduled for Continentals non stop flight on Friday from EWR to POP which I booked 3 months ago knowing I can run into a snow problem. So sure enough it's going to snow Thursday night into Friday morning. Right now they are saying 3 to 6 inches. If there is a flight delay i'm ok with that as I'll just kill time at the bar. Terminal "C" in Newark airport is a mini shopping mall. However if the flight gets canceled I would assume I'm pretty screwed as there is only 1 flight a day to POP. I checked out the seat mapper for Saturdays flight which is 97% full. So basically if Fridays flight gets canceled there is no way they are going to be able to re book 150 people onto the next days flight. What do I do? Should I act now and see if Continental will rebook me on Saturdays flight hopefully with no change fee??? Take a chance for Friday? Try to get out Thursday?? Help!!!!

With the current weather forecast, what do you guys think as far as canceling the flight? They haven't posted a Winter Storm Watch yet.

If i get out tomorrow morning there is the problem of The New Garden not having rooms as I am going with 2 friends. I guess i can always stay next door for 1 night.

How accurate are forecasts over there?

Up to you but if you try to go on your normal flight and get delayed I would have them fly you into midnight Santo Domingo stay here http://www.hotel-dominican-republic.net/apart-hotel-48-riazor-santo-domingo.html then go to Club 305 short walk.

Wake up take Caribe bus north to POP.

I don't know how Continental rolls maybe they can put you into Santiago on AA?

To be absolutely sure you get out go early is my advice...if it doesn't cause a problem at work... I don't think you will regret an extra day in the DR...LOL If it were United, however, the change fee would be huge...like $150...

AA just charged me $150 to cancel the ex-girlfriends ticket and put the credit in my name. Not happy about it! But when I canceled it, they told me that only she can use it!!

I'm like WTF!!! I booked it, and paid for it on my credit card!!

Anyway, sorry for the thread jack. Just had to rant!!

You bought her the ticket, she should keep the credit.

Just another way the airlines can now legitimately fuck with you, and pretend its in the name of SECURITY...
Like the ONE hour before the flight check in requirement and BUMP if you miss it by even one minute, and they dont call it a bump, cause then they would have to COMP you, so they blame it on YOU, since you were a dumbass and waited in the check in line as instructed ... Fuckers...

This actually happened to me one time. I went to check in 55 minutes before my flight, and they said sorry, we have already sold your seat to someone else. The only option they gave me was to wait for their next scheduled flight (3 days latter) and be on stand by.

I booked another flight on a different airline instead. $900 :icontd: One way

They wont do it without the fee..(and the fare difference) unless they have the travel advisory posted.
I went through this on my last trip during Hurricane Tomas.
I said fuck it..and pushed the trip back a week. Luckily there was no fare difference.

I dont think it will be that bad...probably just some delays.

Well after taking a look at the latest forecast I decided to stick with my original flight. I don't think 3 to 5 inches will cancel the flight , maybe a delay. As I checked in on line, it offered me to upgrade to business class for $79 and you better believe I took advantage of that. When you go to the "flight status" on Continentals web site, you can see how many people are on stand by for business class. When I checked it early this morning there was nobody on stand by and there were plenty of business seats left so I kinda figured they would offer business class for a great deal. With Continental Airlines, if your in buisness class, you also get access to the club lounge which is nice. American and Delta airlines won't let you in their club lounge on an upgrade seat since they don't consider the Caribbean an international destination. That's B. S.

If you connect on American in Miami and are Business Class you get into the Lounge.

Business class and only if your connection is to like Europe, yes they will let you in lounge. But not if you are traveling to the Caribbean.

FROM AA.COM.............

*International is defined as Europe, Asia, Central and South America, and Mexico City. Destinations in Canada and other destinations in Mexico, Bermuda, the Bahamas and the Caribbean are not considered International for the purposes of lounge access.

A few months ago I fly Delta out of JFK to SDQ in business class and when I tried to get into the Sky Club they would not let me in on that ticket. A traveler going in at the same time got me in as a companion.

Sorry about that, I meant South America. I did it twice and was admitted.

I'm sure your good to go if your going to Columbia. I think the whole idea that the Caribbean is not considered an international destination is bullshit. If you need a passport it's international.
