yes,, he was there for more than a few nights at new years, had about 4-5 guys in his entourage, but did not play the celebrity card

he was no way near the wanna be rock/roll & rap stars that show up from time to time.

Has anyone seen a celebrity around Sosua? Over new years I saw a certain famous actor/comedian mongering hard in Classico?He's on a major network tv show (nbc thursday night!) Anyone know who I'm talkIng about?

Not surprised to hear he acted sorta normal. He has a reputation for being a decent guy.

I've seen a couple of NFL players and a retired NBA player in Sosua before...no one of note. A former Jets tight end's father was a part-time Sosua resident. He had a baby down there a few years ago. I believe the player came down on occasion, I never saw him though. David Ortiz was allegedly a block away from me in Santiago one time.

I met Frank Reyes...I guess he doesn't count (too local, maybe). I used to see Jimmydr down there all the time.

We used to see Basketball players in Santo Domingo in places like Girl House , my friends recognized them, I didnt know who they were. I could not even guess. They were obviously easier to spot since everyone in their group stood at like 6' 6 " + ?. the looks from the girls were priceless...

Not uncommon at all, I have seen several in the DR in various locations..... Rappers, Athletes, Actors/Comics....even a few well known actresses doing the Stella and getting sank panky at resorts.

I saw Marbury in Classico when I went in May 2010. It didn't seem like too many women recognized him....though some girl gave me and my boys a flyer for a fight party between Shane Mosely/Floyd Mayweather that he was hosting. We later ran into him again at the fight party.

I had the good fortune to meet Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Jean-Pierre Villechaize (Tattoo) in the Dominican Republic on my last trip. They greeted me at the Puerto Plata airport and said, "Welcome to Fantasex Island, where all your dreams come true!!" :eek:

I met them later in Classicos, where Tattoo was busy stealing all the women (see picture). :p

I have talked to guys who said they have seen Rowan Atkinson (Mr Bean) in Mistys.

I met and had drinks with John Boyle, the brother of that Scottish singing sensation, Susan Boyle, this past December. Probably as close to a celebrity as I'll ever come over there.

And of course, David Carradine was known to have been hanging out in Bangkok.

Al Horford, the excellent young center who plays for the NBA's Atlanta Hawks, is from Puerto Plata.

He has a house in Sosua.

Not sure he has been to Classicos, though.

He would be hard to overlook - at 6'-10" and 245 lbs.

I've met him...nice fellow. I let him know that we were "home boys". He definitely would be hard to miss, but I've never seen him in the D.R..
