The Herrera Industrialists Association (AEIH) is urging the government to start applying the necessary measures to resolve the energy crisis. The position of Herrera is that there is a consensus that the problems are: the need to improve collection efficiency for electricity supplied, to renegotiate the contracts with the power generators and to find ways of reducing the country's dependency on petroleum. As reported in Diario Libre, AEIH pointed out that a year ago the government announced that the contracts with the power generators would be renegotiated, but nothing has been done about this. The AEIH says that the government should declare a "state of emergency" in the sector.
