Indian news sources are reporting that President Leonel Fernandez will visit the Haryana-based O P Jindal Global University to sign a memorandum of exchange with the university branch of the Global Foundation for Democracy and Development, for mutual exchange of scholars and cooperation in developing academic programs. President Fernandez travels to India after his visit to Switzerland.
He is scheduled to visit the Jindal School of International Affairs at the Jindal Global University on 2 February. There he will deliver the first ever Jindal Global Lecture on Latin America Today: Opportunities and Challenges. In India, President Fernandez will be meeting with Prime Minister Manmohan Singh.
Fernandez is also credited with playing the role of peacemaker in regional conflicts between Bolivia, Venezuela and Colombia, and is respected as an intellectual politician.
The signing of the memorandum will also be attended by Jindal University Chancellor and Lok Sabha MP Navin Jindal, as reported in Indian press.
