The Department of Customs (DGA) seized US$3,211,000 and another EUR310,000 in undeclared funds being brought into the country through airports, ports and frontier crossing points in 2010. The Customs agency told Listin Diario that they even seized 1,250,000 Iraqi dinars. The report from Customs said that most of the undeclared cash was seized at the Gregorio Luperon Airport in Puerto Plata, at the Cibao International Airport (STI) in Santiago, at Las Americas International Airport in Santo Domingo (SDQ), and at Punta Cana International Airport in Punta Cana, Higuey.

One of the biggest seizures was from Jose del Carmen Martinez who tried to enter the country with US$819,197 in several denominations. He was caught at the Puerto Plata airport.

Jose Alexander Lopez Martinez was found to be carrying US$529,613 in cash, also at the Puerto Plata airport.

The Iraqi dinars were found on the ship "Diplomat" that had come from Toa Baja in Puerto Rico.
