Police spokesman Maximo Baez Aybar has identified Santo Domingo resident Osiel Fernando Moreta Feliz as the person who admitted planning the robbery at the Palacio del Cine of the Blue Mall earlier this month together with two other individuals known as Beto and El Chulo. Moreta was an employee at the movie house. Moviegoers were oblivious to the robbery at the Blue Mall despite the fact that the raid was taking place while they were viewing the last showing of the day on 15 January. Reportedly, RD$560,000 was stolen.
He said they also planned the 13 October 2010 robbery at the movie house at Bella Vista Mall on Sarasota, when RD$300,000 was reported stolen.
He admitted planning the robbery, saying that he was familiar with the inside workings at the movie houses, while claiming that his accomplices scammed him in the Blue Mall robbery, of which he said he only received RD$30,000.
