Just got this email:

KAYAK is one of a few, select travel sites that include American Airlines flights in our search results, and now for a limited time, American is giving KAYAK users an extra 10% off* when you select American Airlines, American Eagle, or American Connection for your trip.

All you have to do is search for a flight on KAYAK (http://link.kayak.com/t.d?FYGk5Y0lxVSrSf=kayak/in_0a=spotlight&p=false%2fdeals%2f20110127_2spotlight_2def&url=%2fflights) before February 4, 2011, choose American Airlines, and purchase a ticket for travel before March 9, 2011.

Here's your personal promotional code to use when you complete your booking on AA.com:

The problem is...

With American's new pricing policy... the reason the other sites have told American to fuck off... 10% off is still $120 more for a round trip ticket from Boston to Medellin (my flight) than before.

All their flights are substantially more expensive than before. It'd have to be 30% to get the price back to where it was.

American's service is not good enough to warrant their new prices.

Bad news for anyone who uses American.

And it's not just American that is squeezing its customers now, while doing whatever it can to hide that fact. In general, as the following article explains "while airlines are profiting again, fliers are suffering":
