President Leonel Fernandez met with the director general of the World Trade Organization, Pascal Lamy in Geneva on Wednesday. On the same day, he also held a private meeting with UNCTAD Secretary-General Supachai Panitchpakdi.
Fernandez gave a special address on Wednesday to UNCTAD member states and observers when he urged for "unified and clear policies" to help the world recover from the financial crisis. In a short video interview, Fernandez speaks about the 'long-standing, tight working relations' between the DR and UNCTAD over the years. He also stressed the continued importance of UNCTAD as a forum for putting forward new ideas.
