President Leonel Fernandez, who is on his first tour of India, is due to take part in a Seminar on India - Dominican Republic: Trade and Investment Opportunities sponsored by the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FIICI). Other sponsors of the event are the Associated Chambers of Commerce of India (ASSOCHAM) and the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII).
The seminar is being organized on the occasion of President Fernandez's visit to India. It is scheduled for Wednesday, 2 February at the Royal Ballroom of the Imperial Hotel in New Delhi.
The seminar seeks to explore the possibilities of enhancing bilateral trade investment between India and the DR and to facilitate business collaborations and investments in diverse sectors such as steel, leather, fertilizers, IT, animation, pharmaceuticals and tourism.
Earlier on in his visit, while speaking to the members of the CII in Mumbai, President Fernandez highlighted the advantages that free trade agreements could provide Indian companies interested in exporting goods to the US and European markets. President Fernandez encouraged India's entrepreneurs to look into investing in the areas of tourism, agribusiness, renewable energy, software, call centers, movie industry and manufacturing zones, especially in the areas of medical products, pharmaceuticals, electronics and electrical components.
