The Happy City motel, located in San Isidro, was robbed at 1:30pm yesterday. Reportedly RD$500,000 was stolen, according to Hoy. The assailants were disguised as members of the National Drug Control Department. The Police arrested 28-year old Argenily Hernandez Batista, who was injured in the robbery.
Also in Santo Domingo East, a colmado owner, 53-year old Ruddy Antonio de Oca was murdered when he tried to resist a robbery at the Colmado las Caobas in Ensanche Isabelita. De Oca tried to defend himself, but before he could take out his gun, he was shot by the assailants who fled on a motorcycle. He died on the way to the hospital. Hoy reports the killing took place in the presence of his daughter. The robbers demanded the day's takings and his gold chain.
