The Third Court of Instruction for the province of Santo Domingo has granted a bail bond to a Russian man who purchased a weapon belonging to Lt. Colonel Virgilio Casilla Minaya who was murdered last month. Diario Libre reports that Judge Rossana Camilo granted Mikhail Sulin his freedom under a RD$100,000 bail bond, together with a travel restriction that prevents him from leaving the country, and a requirement to appear before the provincial prosecutor every month.

Together with Sulin, two Dominicans, Marcelo Valenzuela and Juan Daniel Reynoso Quintana, who were said to have bought and then resold the weapon used in the murder of Lt. Colonel Virgilio Casilla Minaya, were also released. According to the tribunal, the charges against Valenzuela and Reynoso Quintana lacked legal standing.

According to a report by the National Police, the weapon that was sold to Sulin had been taken during the alleged robbery. This pistol was sold by Junior Antonio Valdez Rodriguez, charged as one of the persons responsible for the murder, to Juan Samuel Ventura, who later sold it to the Russian.
