The Dominican government, through the State Electricity Companies (CDEEE), has signed an agreement with Indian company Sun Group for the installation of a 500-megawatt generator in the Dominican Republic, with the aim of improving the national electricity supply system.
In the presence of President Leonel Fernandez, the agreement was signed by CDEEE executive vice-president Celso Marranzini representing of the Dominican state, and the Sun Group Company's Shiv Vikram Khemka.
Marranzini stated that both parties promised to deliver the project feasibility studies within 120 days and he said that he expects that the installation work on the plants, which could be operated with coal or gas, will be advanced by mid-2012, at least in the first phase.
