Five new poisoning cases

The school breakfast program has barely got under way and there have already been outbreaks of food poisoning, first in Cotui and now in San Cristobal province. Five children were treated for food poisoning at the Ramon Matias Mella School in Haina, San Cristobal. Ministry of Education public relations director Juan Perez Recio told El Nuevo Diario that more details would be released today. Earlier this week Education Minister Melanio Paredes said that the first cases reported had been caused by lactose intolerance, but the public received the news with skepticism.
