The Plenary of the Central Electoral Board (JCE) decided yesterday that it is not in condition to evaluate and decide what type of support to provide the PRD Organizing Commission for the XXIX Convention to help them choose their presidential candidate for the 2012 elections. Diario Libre says that the electoral tribunal decision is in response to a note sent on 28 January, signed by Emmanual Esquea Guerrero and Roberto Fulcar, the president and secretary of the Organizing Commission. The PRD leaders asked the JCE to give logistical and technical support for the staging of the PRD convention, scheduled for 6 March.
The members of the Plenary argued that the technical information requested from Holguin Brito, who was designated by the Organizing Commission, was not forthcoming. The Plenary of the JCE, however, did authorize the delivery of the voting rolls that the PRD had requested from the JCE, because they felt that the request was specific and concrete.
