I am always surprised at the guys who send money. With ho's you pay them to leave. I am quoting Charlie Sheen and who better than he to comment about the paying of ho's. I have friends that have been going for over 10 years and they keep in contact with a few and don't give the anything. I kept in contact with her(til i lost my phone) and didn't send her anything. We have even had chicas catch the bus from Santo Dom. to come meet us in Sosua. And they brought friends. We gave them nothing, they where just happy to meet and chill us. I don't keep in contact with any chicas from the DR when I am in the real world.

But, I would say 75% of the chicas that I know relatively well in the DR have requested money from me. This includes non-pros, semi-pros and pros.

I think it may be because I tend to get into deep conversation with them. I talk to them about their children, their jobs, their health. A lot of personal stuff. After they have confided in me I think they feel that they are comfortable enough with me to ask me to help them out a little.

Let's face it, all of these girls are poor (by North American standards). I really can't blame them for trying to get money from tourists (who they perceive as having lots of money).

One time I was sitting with a good friend at a restaurant table on the sidewalk and a vendor came up and put a 2 foot tall wood carving on the table. My friend said, "Now what the fuck am I going to do with this shit? Put it in my carryon?" I laughed my ass off...not at my friend but at myself because if I'd been there alone I would have said, "That carving is beautiful but sorry, I'm not interested." The vendor would have sensed weakness and kept working on me. In reality, my friend's bluntness did the vendor a favor. He picked up his carving and moved on. With me, he would have wasted his time trying to talk me into a sale. Anyway, I'm polite to people and so I'm seen as someone who cares about people and will be charitable.

There is one other thing that puts that "Sucker" label on me. I am certainly not going to flame you. Quite the contrary. You respond to people in a respectful decent manner. You speak to people the way you would want to be spoken to instead of speaking down to them. That is hardly a character flaw. I very much agree, I am the same way, I need to have some type of conversation going, otherwise it feels too mechanical and businesslike, and for me that just kills the feeling, especially if your going to TLN a chica. The "story" has been repeated multiple times by multiple people. It simply didn't happen the way people say. Again, it's a great story, very motivational. It simply didn't happen that way. It's like the line, "Play it again Sam" from Casablanca. It sounds cool, people like to quote it all the time, but that's not what she says.
