The Toros have won two games and lost three in the Caribbean Series that continues tonight, but will need a combination of winning tonight and losses of Puerto Rico and Mexico to move to the finals tomorrow. Any of the four participating teams (Venezuela, Mexico, Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico) could still win the series. The DR has lost both of its games against Mexico, but won one game against Venezuela and lost another. It defeated Puerto Rico once. Tonight, the DR faces Puerto Rico at 7:30pm and Venezuela matches Mexico. Cuban pitcher Raul Valdes will open for the DR. Mexico and Venezuela are tied with three wins and two losses. Puerto Rico and the DR need to win their games today to stay alive.

The event is taking place at the Isidoro Garcia stadium in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico that has reported record full-house crowds.

Meanwhile, the president of the Caribbean Baseball Confederation, Juan Francisco Puello Herrera said that the DR has been elected to host the Caribbean Series in 2012. The event could take place at the La Romana Stadium, home of the Toros, but that this would be decided later by the Dominican Baseball League.
