The Dominican Olympic Committee has announced the list of the best athletes for 2010. The overall best athlete of the year award went to young runner Luguelin Santos. Upon receiving the award, Santos invited his coach Jose Rubio to join him.

Bowling champ Aumi Guerra received a special recognition for her success abroad. Santos won two gold medals at the Youth Olympiads held in Singapore, and Guerra became the world champion at the bowling championship in France.
