The Department of Taxes (DGII) reports that collections in January were up 11.2% compared to January 2010. In absolute terms this is RD$1.75 billion more, for a total of RD$17.45 billion. Income tax collections, this year, after monthly declines during most of 2010, showed an increase of RD$135 million in January 2011, or 9.1% more than last year, according to the DGII's Economic Studies unit.

The largest increase reported was in the hydrocarbons tax, showing RD$455 million more. The government consistently increased fuel prices in January.
