National District prosecutor Alejandro Moscoso Segarra has told the press that the Venezuelan man who was murdered last week while dining at a restaurant in the Hotel BQ on Santo Domingo's Sarasota Avenue was in possession of six cell phones when he was shot. Diario Libre reports that five of the cell phones belonged to Rafael Mauricio Bardeja Vargas and that he had received 42 calls in the previous 24 hours. The newspaper speculates that the sixth cell phone could have belonged to the woman who accompanied him, and had left shortly before he was murdered.

Major General Jose Armando Polanco says that three people are under arrest as investigations continue. One is a Venezuelan who had allegedly reserved a room for the deceased at the hotel. Bardeja Vargas is suspected to have been a victim of a contract killer.
