The Ministry of Education announced a pilot program to restore the school breakfast program at public schools in the municipality of Santo Domingo East, that encompasses from Villa Mella to Boca Chica. The distribution of the snacks (milk, cup cakes, and juice) will be supervised by the United Nations Development Plan and will benefit approximately 137,000 children. The program is also operating in the border, with the distribution of 125,000 rations.
The Ministry of Education announced it would create the National Institute of Student Welfare that will be in charge of the school breakfast program.
